Let’s begin with the most obvious aspect of the Aspire GoTek X e-cigarette. This is a ‘no frills’ piece of kit which does exactly ‘what It says on the tin’.

If you are an experienced vaper and like to be able to adjust the power to the coil or minutely adjust the airflow in order to regulate the volume of vapour or strength of taste, then the GoTek X isn’t the e-cigarette for you and I would strongly recommend you look at the Aspire Nautilus Prime X  instead.

Unboxing the Gotek X

As with all Aspire packaging, it is impressive and immediately tells you that Aspire cares about the whole buying experience and that what you have just bought is a quality item.

Inside the box there is the main body of the mod (mine was a cool, translucent amber colour) with the 650 mAh 3.6V battery and the drop-in refillable tank with built-in Aspire 0.8Ω coil and mouthpiece. The drop-in tank is also magnetic, ensuring that it fits nice and snugly with no connection problems once in place.

The version I received had a 4.5ml refillable pod which will keep me going for days, but in the EU you will get a 2ml TPD version of the pod.

What I also like is that you can get pre-filled 5ml tanks in a wide variety of flavours from your local vape store (2ml in Europe), or you can buy or make your own flavoured e-liquids.

First Impressions

What you will soon discover about Aspire is that the company believes that vaping should be fun and, consequently, many of the designs of their mods and e-cigarettes are also fun, as is the case with the GoTek series.

The chasis of these mods are translucent, so you can see the inner workings, and this is where Aspire also scores heavily when it comes to attention to detail. Instead of a plain stock battery, the one in the GoTek X is intricately and stylishly patterned. It’s a lovely extra touch.

On the base of the main body there is both the airflow regulator and also the Type-C fast charging port (a full recharge takes just 20 minutes), while on the side is the loop to attach a lanyard – again just one of those extra and thoughtful touches from Aspire.

The adjustable airflow helps with the type of vaping you prefer as you want to leave the inflow open for a direct to lung (DTL) vape, but closed for a mouth to lung (MTL) vape.

The whole mod is light at 52g and definitely ‘pocket friendly’ at 81.5 x 47.6 x 19.8 mm, so perfect if you are going out for the night and don’t want anything too bulky or heavy on you.

The Vaping Experience

Because this is a no-frills mod, other than the adjustable air intake, there is nothing else to fiddle with. The GoTek X is a straightforward autodraw direct to lung (DTL) mod, though it is perfectly suited to those of you who prefer a mouth to lung (MTL) vape as it is a dual-function e-cigarette.

Thanks to the 0.8Ω coil there is plenty of vapour produced, though not in the same league as larger mods which produce billowing clouds. Aspire always seem to manage to get the vaping experience ‘just right’ with those e-cigarettes that are not equipped with finely adjustable airflow or adjustable power settings. I can certainly say that is the case with the GoTek X.

In conclusion, for the price point of a high-quality no-frills mod-style e-cigarette, you will have to go far to find anything better than the GoTek X.
